Executive committee received following letter from election commission on Saturday, August 22, 2009 requesting for 90 days extension of the election. The Executive Committee has acted swiftly in the committee meeting which was held on same day, Saturday, August 22, 2009 and passed the resolution unanimously to extend the request of the commission for an extension of 90 days, which is up to and including December 6, 2009. Please be advised that new executive committee election will be conducted after the 2009 Joint Convention.

Dear Members,
The Election Commission is happy to report that we had our first meeting on July 11, 2009, and as of now, we are ready to accept nominations for upcoming NASeA Executive Board Election to be held on September 6, 2009. In keeping with the tradition that has been developing over the last few years, the Commission has decided to work within the same basic frame work without changing it drastically this year. The Commission would like to state unequivocally, that the sole purpose of these rules and processes is to facilitate the election process in a smooth, cordial and fair manner which is also transparent and democratic. The Commission understands its responsibility and will try to work with all concerned parties, and is asking for everyone’s help to achieve that.
Basically this year’s election process will be divided into three phases. They are as follows:
A. Nomination:
1. As of now, the election commission is accepting nominations for all
positions from NASeA members at election@naseaonline.org.
2. For the purpose of nomination, both the nominee and the nominator must
be:
a. NASeA member who has paid his/her membership dues during the 2007
conference held in Atlanta, Georgia
b. And /or the 2008 conference held in Omaha, Nebraska
c. And /or is a life/regular member before the announcement of this Election
Commission by the NASeA president.
3. The nominee has accepted to be nominated for such a position.
4. The legal age to vote on this election will be 18 years of age.
5. Self nomination is allowed from an existing member/life member as described
in 2 above.
6. The Commission will post the qualified voting members list no later
than July 22, 2009 on the NASeA website. If you are a paid member as described
in number 2 above, but your name is missing on the list, you must contact
one of the commission members with appropriate proof no later than July
30, 2009.
7. All nominations must be submitted at election@naseaonline.org on the
attached nomination form, no later than 11:59pm Eastern daylight saving
time on July 30, 2009
8. The election commission will publish the highlight of the nominations
received on NASeA web site the week of August 3, 2009
B. Verification and Withdrawal:
1. From July 31 to August 14, 2009, the Commission will review and verify
the nomination list of the candidates
2. The only qualification a candidate must have is the NASeA membership
as described on number 2 under Nomination above.
3. The Commission will accept properly filed withdrawal requests from
candidates during this period.
4. An e-mail requesting the withdrawal from a candidate sent to NASeA
election website will constitute a properly filed withdrawal and it will
be irrevocable.
C. Election Preparation and Conducting Election
1. From August 15, 2009 and forward, the Commission will start formulating
the actual election process in detail, and will publish that process on
the NASeA website. This will also include the process to file a complaint
and the Commission’s duty to review and render the final decision.
2. The Commission will publish a final list of the candidates
3. The Commission will publish the final membership list of those who
are qualified to vote in the 2009 election.
